I can’t believe its already been 3 weeks since we got married! It was the best day of our lives, I cried the next morning because I wish I could’ve done it again. The day was absolutely perfect. I had been worried about rain and wind for 8 months. lol! From the moment we got engaged I knew I wanted a beach wedding. I spent months and months planning that day and it went just as I imagined.
I planned my wedding all by myself, I did most of my research on Pinterest and wedding magazines. I also had help the day of with the wedding coordinators at Johns’ Island, Monica and Linda. I always had an idea of what I wanted which was helpful in the planning process. From the silver dollar garland to the peonies and checkered dance floor, I had a vision of it all. For my tablescape, I added the pink napkins last minute because I thought it might need a pop of color. It’s funny because you have all of your ideas and seeing them all pulled together is such a good feeling. I was kept in a room near the reception before the ceremony and I kept peeking to see it. I was so proud!
We had our wedding at a club called John’s Island in Vero Beach Florida. Since my husband and I live in Palm Beach, we wanted a little something different. Gary’s family has been members at JI since he was a baby. He spent his summers there so it was like a second home to him. I absolutely love it too! It was the perfect place for us because I got to have my beach ceremony and put up a large tent over looking the ocean. It’s also a golf club with three courses and if you know Gary, he loves to play golf. I almost forgot to mention we got married on Masters Weekend. He wore a green jacket to our rehearsal dinner and I got him a masters logo grooms cake. It was perfect!
The boys played golf the day of and I hosted a “Brunch with the Bride” for my bridesmaids, mom, sisters and mother in law. It was beautiful and so girly. While we were getting ready we sipped mimosas and listened to music. It was so fun having all of my bridesmaids together. I’ve met each of them at different times in my life. They all live in different places in the country, one in London. I’ve never had them all in one place, I couldn’t stop smiling all day.
Gary and I’s favorite part of the day was our first dance. We were both more nervous for that than anything else. It was so fun, especially the dirty dancing lift at the end.
There’s so much that goes into planning a wedding, towards the end I was exhausted and some nights I couldn’t sleep. My advice for the “bride to be” is to take up your friends when they offer. I had an assembly line doing my welcome bags in my dining room a couple nights before the wedding. Glad to be done with those!
I could go on and on about every detail to show you but you but I’m going to keep it short and sweet. Please leave me a comment if I left something out 🙂 xoxo
